Strong Adhesive – We used this gorilla glue to glue the wax seals onto the invites. It was just about the perfect size – especially once wax started building up in it. Measuring Spoons (optional) – We used a 1/2 teaspoon measuring spoon to portion out the wax seal, then pour it onto the parchment paper in a circle. It was MUCH easier than trying to make perfect wax seals on the envelopes and worrying about ruining your invites. Parchment Paper – We used this to make the wax seals on, then we peeled off the wax seals and glued them onto our envelopes. There is a 1 pound option so unless you channel your inner Jan from The Office and want to start your own candle making company, I’d recommend 1 pound. Word to the wise…you will not need 10 pounds. Wax – A little obvious but don’t forget your wax! I got a paraffin wax from Hobby Lobby that melted really well for this. Once wax hardens, it’s very difficult to get off and the pouring spout made this much easier than using a kitchen pot. After doing this I’d say it’s definitely worth the investment. We used this kit from Amazon and had plenty of colors to choose from. Wax Dye – We wanted our wax to be dyed for our wedding colors. Some are made out of wood, which I think would be harder to use. I searched Etsy, Hobby Lobby, and Amazon. I added a bit more decor to the gift by hot gluing some faux pine needles and berries (I cut the berries from a berry branch). Then I took my green Finnabair mica powder by Prima Marketing, placed a bit of it on my finger and applied it onto the wax seal (this gives it a sparkly shine). If there’s some difficulty, it means the wax isn’t cool enough just yet. Just an FYI, the seal will come off easily. Immediatlely after I poured the wax, I applied the wax seal stamp, leaving it on for a good 2 minutes. With the spoon in hand, I slowly poured the wax onto the middle of the baker’s twine. Then, I wrapped the baker’s twine two times around the box, taping the other end of the twine to the back of the box as well. Please note, the wax seal stamp did not come with the melting spoon set. The wax seal spoon version worked way better for me, it was way easier to control the wax and I didn’t have to rely on a wick that wouldn’t light again. The set came with a melting spoon, 2 tea candles, and an assortment of small star shaped wax in a variety of colors. Because of that waste of wax, I decided I wanted to try using a melting spoon version of wax sealing. The wax had a use it all or lose it all type of lifespan.
